Dear developers,
We noticed that the title of a submission which is not yet associated to an InspireHEP.net record (ID) cannot be edited neither by coordinator nor by uploader through the uploaded YAML files. Does this title automatically updates to the one of the record indexed by Inspire or does need to correct this manually (in this case there should be a feature implemeted to allow this at least for coordinators)? Thanks!
Cheers,
Alex (for LHCb users)
Thanks for the question. The provisional title of a HEPData record will be replaced by the title from the INSPIRE record (generally the title of the arXiv preprint) when the INSPIRE ID is attached. This point is explained in the fourth paragraph of the Introduction in the HEPData submission documentation.
There’s an open issue (since 2022) to add a feature to allow a Coordinator to edit the provisional title before attaching the INSPIRE ID. This feature was not given a high priority because the provisional title is only temporary and it is never made public. However, I agree that it would still be a useful feature. I just assigned the issue to GitHub Copilot, which opened a PR with a proposed implementation. We will need to test and review the generated code changes. I’ll comment again on this post when the feature is made available.
